20MO (formerly Zabanmo) Case Study: How Active Users Tripled

Zabanmo — today operating as 20MO — came to us with a clear problem: users signed up but didn't stay. Week-two retention was under 20% and online classes were painful on mobile.

Diagnosis: a technical problem, not marketing Data showed 70% of users arrived on mobile, but the virtual classroom took over 8 seconds to load there. Users left before class started.

What we did Rebuilt the frontend with Next.js, cutting load time under 2 seconds; redesigned the mobile experience from scratch; and built a smart practice engine that suggests the next exercise based on performance.

Results in 6 months Monthly active users tripled; week-two retention went from 20% to 48%; course completion grew 45%. Most importantly: all without increasing ad spend.

The lesson Before spending more on acquisition, find the hole in the funnel. Sometimes the problem isn't marketing; it's the product.
